Nationwide ARDHO - Association pour le Respect et les Droits des Homosexuels (Association for the Respect and Rights of Homosexuals) ARDHO was formed in 2003 to create awareness about, to advocate for and to protect gay rights. They also work with HIV/AIDS prevention organizations and try to teach them the importance of including sexuality information in education and prevention efforts and activities. A substantial taboo regarding homosexuality in Burundi makes all such engagement in health education extremely challenging.
