CariFLAGS - Caribbean Forum for Liberation and Acceptance of Genders and Sexualities
The Caribbean Forum for Liberation and Acceptance of Genders and Sexualities is a multiethnic organization dedicated to moving forward in a spirit of oneness, fostering love, dignity and respect, towards the procurement of a world devoid of prejudice, injustice and discrimination, so as to ensure the preservation of human rights and equity. CariFLAGS is open to everyone who supports human rights regardless of sexual orientation - homosexual, bisexual, and heterosexual (hence the term, all-sexual).
The general objectives of the CariFLAGS network are to formulate human rights advocacy to end all forms of oppression and marginalisation of sexual minorities in the Caribbean; to educate and inform the gay and lesbian Caribbean community, in particular, and the Caribbean public, in general, regarding relevant issues; and to promote general health within the gay and lesbian community. In this respect one of the principle focus areas is activities addressing ongoing concerns for HIV/AIDS as a challenge facing the community.
There are CariFLAGS chapters and associated organisations in over 15 Caribbean countries and territories: Aruba, Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Jamaica, Martinique, Montserrat, Netherlands Antilles, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, Saint Vincent and The Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago, Turks & Caicos Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands.
